Firestarters – How to make your own!
In our world ALL seasons are adventure-seasons, and we pretty much enjoy it all: backpacking, kayak camping, hiking, etc. etc. etc. With a new season and new adventures soon at hand, it was time to stock up and get set for the next set of adventures, so I thought I would share my DIY version of homemade firestarters!
These firestarters are super easy and pretty much cost nothing to make…just use up household “trash” items such as empty cardboard egg cartons, toilet paper tubes, dryer lint, and candle stubs. Yep, pretty much that simple to create these powerful little firestarters.
All too often it seems to rain, or the rain has just ended, and the firewood you want to use is damp, or even soaked in some situations. While not every campfire moment is life and death survival or for warding off hypothermia, it sure is wonderful to be able to start a fire easily in any situation.
The video demonstrates the “ingredients” and the preparation, along with the firestarters in use. Simple to make, easy to use, and ultra-lightweight to carry along.
PLEASE NOTE: One big blooper/glitch at 54 seconds is where I had canning supplies in my mind and mentioned “surejell” instead of PARAFFIN WAX!! Ooops!!! Anyways, trust me, you need WAX, not citric acid. ha ha!
Other than that, thanks for watching! Now, go make your own, pack them up and keep them ready to go at any time, and get outside and enjoy your adventures!
As always,
YOUR Life is the Beautiful Adventure,
Tambra
